Insect Candy
Insect candy offers a unique confectionery experience by incorporating edible insects into sweets. Hotlix, a pioneer in this niche since the early 1980s, introduced their first insect product, the tequila-flavored sucker with a real worm inside. This innovation led to a diverse range of products, including scorpion, cricket, ant, and earthworm sweets, as well as Crick-ettes and Larvets snacks. Hotlix utilizes Culinary Grade A insects, adhering to the Edible Insects Grading System (EIGS) standards, ensuring quality and safety in their offerings.
Hotlix's product line features items like Ant Candy with Real Black Ants, available in cherry or apple flavors, and Scorpion Suckers in various flavors. These candies appeal to adventurous eaters and those interested in entomophagy—the practice of consuming insects. The brand's commitment to quality and innovation has made it a leader in the insect candy market, offering products that are both intriguing and exciting to eat, especially our highly sought-after chocolate-covered scorpions!
Overall, insect candy is an educational tool that introduces consumers to alternative protein sources and sustainable eating practices. Hotlix's confections provide a conversation starter and a memorable tasting experience, making them popular at events, as novelty gifts, or for personal exploration of unconventional foods. Their products are available through various retailers and online platforms, including here at Candy Retailer, making them accessible to a broad audience interested in expanding their love for candy!
