About Papas Candies

Papas Candies began in the Cincinnati area in the 1930s, when Macedonian immigrant Christus A. Papas developed candy recipes for sale during intermissions at Cincinnati Music Hall. Opera cream became a local favorite, and Papas opened Lily’s Candies in Covington, Kentucky, in 1935. His son Alex later built a candy manufacturing facility on Baker Street in 1956. Family ownership has continued through four generations, keeping Papas Candies closely connected to Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
