Regal Crown Candy traces its history to 1953, when Murray Allen partnered with British confectioner Trebor Bassett to create the Regal Crown formula. Trebor Bassett produced the candy in the United Kingdom, while Allen handled exclusive distribution in the United States. By the 1960s, Regal Crown Sours had become a major American candy brand, with the National Confectioners Association ranking it sixth among candy sold across all categories. Production eventually ended after ownership and distribution rights changed hands, leaving Regal Crown unavailable for years. Iconic Candy, a family-owned company specializing in reviving discontinued candy brands, brought Regal Crown back in 2015.
