Golden Bonbon began in 1948 when Giuseppe Mazzucco, a master pastry chef in Asti, Italy, developed a family recipe for torrone, the Italian name for nougat. His recipe used a nine-hour cooking process and established the Mazzucco family as respected nougat makers in Italy’s Piedmont region. Three generations later, the family business relocated to Vancouver in 1991, where Asti Holdings Ltd. continued producing the candy under the Golden Bonbon name. The company now combines its Italian confectionery heritage with Canadian production and distributes its nougat across Canada, the United States, Asia, and Europe.
