Introduced in 1984 by Goetze’s Candy Company, Cow Tales were created as a longer version of the company’s Caramel Creams, also known as Bulls-Eyes. Both candies use the same family recipe for chewy caramel wrapped around a cream center. The Cow Tales name continued the company’s cow theme by referring to the opposite end of the animal from Bulls-Eyes. Goetze’s history began in 1895, when August Goetze and his son William purchased the Baltimore Chewing Gum Company. The family later shifted from gum to caramel and introduced Caramel Creams in 1918. Cow Tales are still made in Baltimore, Maryland, by the family-owned company.
