Sour Punch Candy

About Sour Punch Candy

Sour Punch Candy was introduced in 1990 by American Licorice Company, the family-owned candy manufacturer founded in Chicago in 1914. Sour Punch began with its now-familiar sour straws, developed by adapting equipment already used for licorice-style candy production. The brand expanded as demand for sour candy grew, adding new shapes and textures while keeping the chewy, sugar-coated style that made the original straws recognizable. American Licorice moved its Midwest operations to La Porte, Indiana, in 2005, and Sour Punch candy continues to be manufactured there today.

Sour Punch Straws, Bites & Twists

We carry Sour Punch Straws, Bites, Twists, and other products in flavors such as Strawberry, Blue Raspberry, Grape, Watermelon, and assorted fruit selections. Sour Punch Straws remain the brand’s signature candy, combining a soft, chewy texture with the sweet-and-sour sugar coating added during production. Bites provide shorter, bite-sized pieces, while individually wrapped Twists offer another chewy option for candy bowls, parties, and larger orders. Sour Punch has also released seasonal shapes, specialty flavors, limited-edition mixes, and other sour candy products over the years. Products shown are what is available now, but that could always change, and likely will as additional Sour Punch flavors and candy types become available.
