About Wrigley Gum

Wrigley was founded in Chicago in 1891 by William Wrigley Jr., who initially sold soap and baking powder before discovering that customers were more interested in the chewing gum he gave away as a promotion. Wrigley introduced Juicy Fruit and Wrigley’s Spearmint in 1893, followed by Doublemint in 1914, and the company eventually became one of the largest chewing gum manufacturers in the world. Mars acquired Wrigley in 2008, and its gum brands are now part of Mars Snacking. Today, the Wrigley name is connected to some of the best-known chewing gum brands in the United States, including Juicy Fruit, Doublemint, Big Red, Orbit, Freedent, Winterfresh, Hubba Bubba, and Wrigley’s Spearmint.
