Turtles Candy dates back to 1916, when Chicago candy maker George DeMet created a chocolate-covered cluster of pecans and caramel at his Madison Street candy shop. Pecans extending from beneath the chocolate gave each cluster an appearance similar to a turtle, providing the candy with its distinctive name. More than a century later, DeMet’s Turtles remains centered on the same combination of chocolate, creamy caramel, and crunchy pecans. Today, the U.S. brand is operated by pladis North America, part of Yıldız Holding, and current U.S. Turtles products are manufactured in the United States using U.S.-grown pecans.
