Founded in 1912 by Walter W. Reid Jr. in Bloomfield, New Jersey, Charms Candy began as Tropical Charms, a line of individually wrapped square hard candies. The company later shortened its name to Charms and expanded into lollipops, sour candy, seasonal sweets, and other fruit-flavored candy. In 1973, Charms introduced Blow Pops, combining a fruit-flavored hard candy shell with bubble gum in the center. Blow Pops became the brand’s signature product and remain among the most recognized gum-filled lollipops in the world. Tootsie Roll Industries acquired Charms in 1988 and continues producing Charms products today, including at its manufacturing facility in Covington, Tennessee.
