Spangler Candy Co. is expanding its Bryan, Ohio facility with a new sugar house, approved by the Bryan City Council through a tax abatement deal. The project includes constructing a building with four 30,000-gallon sugar tanks and two corn syrup tanks, increasing storage capacity by 50%. The total project cost is estimated at nearly $5 million.
The expansion will improve safety and operational efficiency by allowing delivery trucks to drive straight through the facility, eliminating the need for backing up. Completion is expected by the end of the year, and the project could create 100-150 new jobs over the next decade, significantly boosting local employment.
Spangler Candy, known for brands like Dum-Dums and Necco Wafers, has expanded its campus following the NECCO brand acquisitions. This includes moving Bit-O-Honey production to Bryan, creating 40 new jobs facilitated by the Butch Lewis Act. This expansion reinforces Spangler’s position in the confectionery market.
At Candy Retailer, we offer one of the largest selections of Spangler Candy in America, including Dum-Dums, Necco, Bit-O-Honey, Spangler Candy Canes, Sweethearts, Canada Mints, and Marshmallow Circus Peanuts, so we’re excited to share updates as Spangler continues to grow and innovate in the candy industry!
