In a proactive move, Nestlé USA has announced a voluntary withdrawal of a select amount of its Toll House Break & Bake Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bars. The action comes in response to concerns over the potential inclusion of wooden particles in the product.
The alert was made public last Thursday and is also listed on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website. The decision to recall was prompted after a handful of customers contacted the company, flagging the issue. Nestlé is proceeding with the recall as a precautionary measure.
Customers are advised to check for the batch codes 311457531K and 311557534K on the packaging. If you’ve purchased a product with either of these codes, Nestlé strongly advises against using or consuming it. Instead, you should return the item to the store where it was bought for either a replacement or a full refund.
To date, there have been no reports of health issues or injuries linked to the suspected wood particle contamination, according to Nestlé.
The company confirmed that the cookie dough bars under scrutiny were manufactured in the latter part of April and have been distributed across various U.S. retail outlets.
Nestlé USA emphasized that this recall is specific to the mentioned product and does not affect any other items in the Toll House range. The company stated, “We believe this to be a one-off situation and have implemented corrective measures.”
