First and foremost, ranking the best cheese crackers is entirely subjective! We all have our favorites, and I won’t pretend my list is the end-all-be-all of cheesy snack rankings. Still, I’ve done the legwork (and eaten more crackers than I care to admit) to bring you my personal picks to the table. That said, you’re likely here because you’re craving something new, need something for a party, or just want to see if your go-to brand made the list.
Whatever the reason, I wrote this list with you in mind. So, if I missed your favorite cheese crackers—or if you disagree with my rankings—sound off in the comments and let me know! I’m always open to trying new brands because I think I’ve tried them all, but every now and then, I get surprised with something new! On that note, let’s jump into my rankings and see where all your favorites land.
1. Cheez-It Cheese Crackers
Cheez-It is hands-down my favorite cheese cracker. The real cheese flavor is bold, tangy, and consistently satisfying, no matter which variety you choose. Original is a classic, but Extra Toasty takes it up a notch with a perfectly browned edge. Grooves offer a crunchier bite, while Snap’d delivers a light, crispy texture. The balance of saltiness, crunch, and cheesiness is unbeatable. Cheez-It doesn’t just meet expectations—it sets the standard for what a cheese cracker should be.
2. Goldfish Cheddar Cheese Crackers
Goldfish Cheddar Cheese Crackers hold a special place in snack history, but honestly, they feel a little basic compared to others. The cheddar flavor is light and approachable, perfect for kids but less intense for adult palates. The fish shape is fun and nostalgic, and the crunch is satisfying. While I enjoy the Xtra Cheddar variety for more flavor, I find myself reaching for other brands when I want a bolder, cheesier experience. Still, they’re a solid brand and one of America’s best-selling cracker brands!
3. Lance Toast Chee Sandwich Crackers
Lance Toast Chee Sandwich Crackers are what I grab when I want a filling snack. The cheese filling is creamy and flavorful, but the crackers themselves can sometimes feel overly dry. That said, the balance between the buttery cracker and the sharpness of the cheese keeps me coming back. The individually wrapped packs are convenient for road trips or quick snacks, but these aren’t something I crave often. They’re reliable but not necessarily exciting compared to other options. However, I prefer Lance cream cheese & chives over cheddar cheese; how about you?
4. RITZ Cheese Crackers
RITZ Cheese Crackers are a snack I’ll never get tired of. The buttery, flaky crackers paired with creamy cheese filling create a flavor that’s comforting and dependable. While they don’t have the bold cheese punch of some other brands, their simplicity works in their favor. They’re versatile enough for snacking on their own or alongside soups and dips. RITZ Cheese Crackers are always a solid, satisfying choice if you want something that delivers quality and flavor.
5. Keebler Club Cheese Crackers
Keebler Club Cheese Crackers surprised me with how much I enjoyed them. The flaky texture of the crackers combined with the smooth cheddar filling feels indulgent without being too heavy. The buttery, rich flavor of the crackers balances perfectly with the sharpness of the cheese. I also love how convenient they are for on-the-go snacking, especially with the individually wrapped packs. These crackers don’t try too hard but still manage to deliver big on flavor and texture.
6. Better Cheddars Baked Cheese Crackers
Better Cheddars Baked Cheese Crackers are enjoyable, but unfortunately, they don’t grab my attention like other options. The crispy texture is nice, and the cheddar flavor is mild and inoffensive, but they don’t bring much excitement to the table. That said, I like how light they feel when snacking, and they’re easy to eat by the handful. They might not be my first choice for bold cheese flavor, but they’re reliable if you want something simple and straightforward.
7. Annie’s Organic Cheddar Squares
Annie’s Organic Cheddar Squares are a decent alternative when you’re looking for something different from Cheez-It. They resemble Cheez-It in appearance, but the flavor doesn’t quite match up. The organic ingredients and real cheese are a plus, and the taste is pleasant enough to make me grab a box occasionally. However, they lack the boldness that I crave in a cheese cracker. Still, they’re a good option for those seeking an organic snack with a milder cheddar flavor.
8. Quest Nutrition Cheese Crackers
I gave Quest Nutrition Cheese Crackers a shot after noticing their popularity on Amazon, but they didn’t win me over. The texture was off, and the flavor didn’t hit the mark for me. That said, with over 60,000 sales, it’s clear that many people enjoy them. Perhaps it’s the high protein content or the low-carb appeal that attracts others. They just didn’t align with my taste preferences. If you’ve tried them and disagree, let me know in the comments—I’m curious about your experience.
9. Combos Cheddar Cheese Crackers
Combos Cheddar Cheese Crackers have been a favorite of mine since childhood, and they continue to satisfy my snack cravings. The crunchy cracker shell filled with creamy cheddar cheese is a combination that never gets old. Over the years, Combos has introduced new flavors and variations, but the classic cheddar cheese remains my go-to. It’s a nostalgic snack that delivers consistent taste and texture, making it a staple in my snack rotation.
10. Back to Nature Cheese Crackers
Back to Nature Cheese Crackers are the healthier choice in the snack aisle, but they don’t bring much excitement. The mild flavor and softer texture don’t quite deliver the punch I expect from a cheese cracker. However, the use of simple, wholesome ingredients makes them a solid option for anyone focused on clean eating. While they’re not my go-to for bold cheese flavor, I do pick them up occasionally when I’m in the mood for something lighter. They’re fine but not unforgettable.
11. Mary’s Gone Crackers Cheezee Crackers
I almost didn’t try Mary’s Gone Crackers Cheezee Crackers because I assumed they’d be another Cheez-It copycat, but I was so wrong. These crackers are totally unique, with a robust cheese flavor and a hearty, crunchy texture that stands out. The plant-based, wholesome ingredients give them a healthier profile, and the seasoning is surprisingly bold. They’ve become a snack I crave, and while I don’t have a box now, that’s going to change. If you haven’t tried them, you’re missing out.
12. Austin Sandwich Cheese Crackers
Austin Sandwich Cheese Crackers are a quick, easy snack but aren’t my favorite. The creamy cheese filling and crunchy crackers are good, but they don’t have the same punch as similar brands like Lance. That said, they’re great for a busy day when you need something fast or for a light snack before bed. While they don’t blow me away, I still buy them occasionally because they’re reliable and convenient. They’re good—not great—but they get the job done.
13. Munchies Sandwich Cheese Crackers
Munchies Sandwich Cheese Crackers have been a favorite of mine for years. Their classic cheddar cheese crackers are always a reliable option that never disappoints, but I recently discovered their Cheetos and Doritos varieties—and wow, they’re on another level! The bold, cheesy flavors are absolutely addictive and offer something different than other brands have done before. I already have some in my cupboard and plan to grab more soon! If you haven’t tried these yet, do yourself a favor and pick up a pack!
14. Patagonia Provisions Organic Cheeze Crackers
Patagonia Provisions Organic Cheeze Crackers didn’t win me over. While they’re not bad, they just don’t align with my taste preferences. The plant-based, organic ingredients are commendable, but the flavor and texture didn’t stand out for me. However, taste is subjective, and others might appreciate their unique qualities. If you’re interested in trying a different take on cheese crackers, these could be worth a try! Let me know your thoughts if you decide to give them a go.
15. Whole Foods Market Organic Cheese Crackers
Although we don’t sell Whole Foods products at Candy Retailer, I felt it necessary to include Whole Foods Market Organic Cheese Crackers in this list. I actually like them quite a bit. They’re not Cheez-It, but they get the job done when I’m craving a cheese-flavored snack. The organic ingredients are a plus, and the flavor is satisfying enough to make me reach for them occasionally. If you’re near Whole Foods, they’re definitely worth picking up, or you can just buy them on Amazon.
16. Christie Cheddar Cheese Nips
I came across Christie Cheddar Cheese Nips not too long ago and decided to give them a try. Unfortunately, they didn’t resonate with me, and I don’t plan to purchase them again. The flavor and texture didn’t meet my expectations, but that’s just my experience. Taste is subjective, so if you’re curious, give them a shot and let me know how they work out for you. I’d love to hear about your experiences, whether good or bad.
