Listeria Concerns Prompt Recall of Kroger and Food Lion Frozen Veggies

Due to a potential Listeria contamination risk, Twin City Foods pulls specific frozen vegetable products from Food Lion and Kroger shelves. The recall was initiated after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) made an announcement this week.

The recall focuses on various sizes of Food Lion and Kroger branded frozen super sweet corn and mixed vegetables, which include carrots, green beans, and green peas.

The concern is the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can lead to severe health issues, particularly in vulnerable populations like the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Symptoms of Listeria infection can include high fever, severe headaches, diarrhea, and nausea.

Despite the recall, the FDA clarified that no cases of illness related to these products have been reported. Third-party lab results on the sweet-cut corn triggered the recall.

Consumers who have purchased any of the affected products are advised to return them to the store for a full refund immediately. The recall is limited to specific products, and no other items have been implicated. Click the fda.gov/safety link for a complete list of affected products.
